How does automatic versioning work in COOX Origin?

Each COOX Origin development object has a default property called version.
When the Automatic Versioning option is enabled, the version number is automatically generated using three numeric components:

  • Major Version.
  • Minor Version.
  • Patch.

When committing a change to a COOX object, the Version field displays the formatted value of the version that will be saved if the user confirms the commit. A dialog box then allows the user to select the version type that corresponds to the nature of the changes to be saved:

  • Patch (default selection): increments the patch number while keeping the major and minor version numbers unchanged.

  • Minor Version: Resets the patch number and increments the minor version number, while retaining the major version number.
  • Major Version: Resets the patch and minor version numbers and increments the major version number.

This numbering system makes it easier to quickly and accurately identify the version of a COOX Origin object within its development history.
